Reflexology

Reflexology uses therapeutic pressure applied to the foot on reflex points to enhance the body's natural ability to heal itself and balance the body's functions. It is based on the principle that internal glands and organs can be influenced by properly applying pressure to the corresponding reflex area on the foot. For example: the tip on the small toes of each foot corresponds to the sinuses.  By applying pressure to this area of the foot can bring about healing to the sinuses.

A relfexologist will take a complete history of the patient and begin by massaging and applying pressure to the foot, taking special note of tender areas. Once the tender areas are established, the reflexologist will work the entire foot, applying pressure and stimulating particularly the tender areas. This will bring about healing to the corresponding body part, organ or gland. As the reflexologist works the foot, the pressure stimulates the release of toxins. Temporary symptoms of releasing the toxins into the blood stream include increased urination, acne, perspiration, tiredness, dizziness and nausea. This is a positive sign that the body is healing.

Reflexology helps induce deep relaxation, reduce stress, relieve pain, stimulate the organs of elimination and respiration, improve circulation, revitalize energy, improve nerve functioning and balance the body.  Appointments last anywhere from 30-45 minutes and the patient can be asked to come in 1-2 times per week for a possible duration of six weeks for proper healing to occur.
