Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a five thousand year old healing method that is recognized by the World Health Organization as treatment for anything from afflictions of the respiratory system, eyes, mouth cavity, stomach and intestines, and nervous, skeletal and muscular systems. It is also commonly used for drug free pain control in the afflictions of arthritis, back issues and migraine headaches.

The acupuncturist inserts very fine stainless needles into the skin at the meridian points. Meridians are linked to each organ in the body, promoting healing through the body's own energy. The main meridians are: lung, large intestine, stomach, spleen, heart, small intestine, bladder, kidney, pericardium, triple warmer, gall-bladder and liver. Needles are inserted at varying depths and angles depending on the location on the body and the effect desired. There should not be any pain felt during the insertion.

Depending on the affliction, one treatment does not usually provide the total healing the patient is looking for, although often in one treatment pain relief is often found. Prices vary again depending on what affliction patient is suffering from and how many treatments required. It is usually best to get a consult from a qualified acupuncturist to determine how best to treat the patient.
